INTRODUCTION
CREMALAX contains Sodium picosulphate which belongs to a class of medications called stimulant laxatives. It is used to relieve short term functional constipation. It works by increasing movement in the intestine and provides relief from constipation. Constipation usually happens when bowel movements become less frequent and stools become hardened and difficult to pass. It works as a laxative by drawing large amounts of water into your intestines and stimulates the colon. This results in a stimulation of defecation, reduction of transit time and softening of the stool.
Always take?CREMALAX exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have liver, kidney or heart problems, pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers. It is not suitable for use in children below 10 years of age. The common side effects are abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhoea and vomiting.

HOW CREMALAX WORKS
CREMALAX works as a laxative by drawing large amounts of water into your intestines and stimulates the colon. This results in a stimulation of defecation, reduction of transit time and softening of the stool. It usually has an effect within 6-12 hours.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Always take CREMALAX exactly as your doctor has told you. Swallow the medicine as a whole, with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew.

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS
Diarrhoea:
Drink plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration. ORS should be used to prevent dehydration.
Vomiting:
Drink clear or ice-cold drinks. Eat light, bland foods and avoid fried, greasy?or sweet foods.
Nausea:
Stick to simple normal meals and do not eat rich or spicy foods.
Stomach cramps or pain:
Place a warm bottle or heated bag on your abdomen. Soak in a warm bath. Drink plenty of clear fluids and water.

PREGNANCY
CREMALAX is not recommended for use in pregnant women unless necessary. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
BREASTFEEDING
CREMALAX is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women unless necessary. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
DRIVING AND USING MACHINES
This medicine has no or negligible influence on ability to drive and use machines.
KIDNEY
CREMALAX should be used with caution in patients suffering from active kidney diseases. Consult your doctor for advice.
ALLERGY
Do not take if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Sodium picosulphate.
HEART DISEASE
CREMALAX should be used with caution in patients suffering from active heart?diseases. Consult your doctor for advice.
OTHERS
Inform your doctor if you have or had,
Inflammatory bowel disease

Ileus, gastrointestinal obstruction, ulceration or perforation

Acute abdominal surgical conditions including appendicitis

Severe abdominal pain associated with nausea and vomiting

INTERACTIONS
Inform your doctor if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription or the following,
Diuretics

Corticosteroids

Lithium, tricyclic antidepressants, selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors, antipsychotic drugs (used to treat mental disorders)

Carbamazepine? (used to treat seizures)

Contraceptives

Anti-diabetics

Antibiotic (used to treat infections)
