INTRODUCTION
ATM A 0.02 2 is a combination of Adapalene and Azithromycin which belongs to the group of medicines called retinoids and macrolide antibiotics respectively. It is used to treat acne.
Acne is a skin condition that occurs when your hair follicles become plugged with oil and dead skin cells. It causes whiteheads, blackheads, or pimples. It is most common among teenagers, though it affects people of all ages. Adapalene is a form of vitamin A, acts as an antiacne agent by binding directly to the receptor of the skin which increases the rate of cell regeneration and decreases oil secretion preventing clogging of the hair follicles and pores. It also reduces swelling/inflammation. Azithromycin works by binding to the ribosomal unit of the bacteria and disrupting the production of the protein essential for its survival.
The most common side effects are dry skin, irritation of the skin, burning sensation of the skin and redness of the skin (erythema). Avoid unnecessary sun exposure and cover the treated areas with clothing or use a sunscreen before stepping out in the sun. It is advised not to have any cosmetic procedures during this treatment.
