INTRODUCTION
BIOVORIN 15MG TABLET contains Leucovorin Calcium, which belongs to a group of medicines called Vitamin (Folic acid). It is used to treat and prevent folic acid deficiency. Folic acid deficiency is a condition caused by a lower level of folic acid in the body. It is also used to treat megaloblastic anaemia (abnormally large-sized RBC) caused by folic acid deficiency. It is also used to treat or prevent folic acid deficiency caused by other medicines such as methotrexate (a medicine used to treat cancer).
Symptoms of folic acid deficiency are memory problems, depression and confusion, visual problems, a sore and red tongue, mouth ulceration, weakness and tiredness, loss of energy, and a prickling or tingling sensation. Your doctor may advise routine blood tests to evaluate and monitor your health status.
BIOVORIN 15MG TABLET is generally not recommended for use in patients with pernicious anaemia or other megaloblastic anaemia caused by vitamin B12 deficiency. BIOVORIN 15MG TABLET should be used with caution during pregnancy and breastfeeding, only if recommended by your doctor.
The most common side effects of taking BIOVORIN 15MG TABLET are nausea, vomiting, lethargy, malaise, fatigue, alopecia, anorexia, stomatitis, diarrhoea, bruises, nosebleeds, and rashes. Contact your doctor if your symptoms get worse.

HOW BIOVORIN 15MG TABLET WORKS
BIOVORIN 15MG TABLET is an active form of folic acid. BIOVORIN 15MG TABLET increases folic acid levels in the body. As a result, it helps to treat and prevent the decrease in the levels of folic acid in the body.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Take BIOVORIN 15MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Depending on your age, body weight, and medical state, your doctor will determine the appropriate dose and duration for you.
SIDE EFFECTS OF BIOVORIN 15MG TABLET

COMMON
If BIOVORIN 15MG TABLET is given with fluorouracil (used to treat cancer), the following side effects have been reported:
Nausea, vomiting, lethargy, malaise, fatigue, alopecia, anorexia

Lower number of platelets or decrease in white blood cell count in the blood. Symptoms may include bruises, nosebleeds, or rashes

Stomatitis (inflamed and sore mouth) and diarrhoea

UNCOMMON

Urticaria, dermatitis

RARE
Stop receiving BIOVORIN 15MG TABLET and contact your physician immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
Serious allergic reactions such as swelling of the face, eyelids, and lips, causing sudden wheezing, difficulty in breathing, rash or itching particularly those that cover your entire body

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS
Nausea, vomiting:
Take the medicine with or just after a meal. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily or spicy foods. Contact your doctor if your symptom gets worse.
Diarrhoea:
Drink plenty of water or fruit juice, to keep yourself hydrated. Do not take any medicine on your own to treat diarrhoea. Contact your doctor if diarrhoea gets worse.
Skin rash:
Hot water can irritate the skin, so avoid having hot showers. Do not scratch the affected area. Contact your doctor if the rashes do not improve.
WARNING & PRECAUTIONS

PREGNANCY
BIOVORIN 15MG TABLET should be used with caution during pregnancy only if clearly needed, as it is not known whether it may cause harm to the unborn baby. Contact your doctor before taking BIOVORIN 15MG TABLET.
BREASTFEEDING
BIOVORIN 15MG TABLET should be used with caution in breastfeeding women. It is not known whether the drug is excreted through breast milk. Contact your doctor before taking BIOVORIN 15MG TABLET.
DRIVING AND USING MACHINES
BIOVORIN 15MG TABLET does not affect your ability to drive or operate a machine.
ALLERGY
Do not take BIOVORIN 15MG TABLET if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to leucovorin calcium or have an intolerance to lactose or other ingredients in this medicine.
OTHERS
BIOVORIN 15MG TABLET is not recommended if you have:
Pernicious anaemia or other megaloblastic anaemia caused by vitamin B12 deficiency

INTERACTIONS

Tell your doctor if you have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription, vitamin supplements, or herbal products:
Antibiotics (used for treating bacterial infections) Ex. chloramphenicol, trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole

Antiepileptics (used to treat epilepsy) Ex. phenobarbital, phenytoin, or primidone)

Fluorouracil (used to treat cancer)
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else have accidentally taken too much of BIOVORIN 15MG TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Contact your physician if you experience any unusual symptoms.
