Ultrasound lotions are designed to do everything ultrasound gels do and more. They, too, are a conduit for the ultrasonic waves that seal out air bubbles. But lotions are less, well, icky than the gels. The gel is sticky and unpleasant when it dries on the skin and must be wiped away after ultrasonic procedures.
