Friction Board Apparatus

This Friction Board Apparatus consists of:

Wooden friction board,
Wooden slider with hook,
Plain aluminium slider
Aluminium slider with rubber backing.
A further long aluminium slider is provided which fits over the friction board to provide an alternative surface type.

Dimensions of Wooden Slider: 140mm x 70mm x 20mm
Learning Outcomes
Key Stage 3 Physics – Motion and Forces: Forces: associated with deforming objects; stretching and squashing – springs; with rubbing and friction between surfaces, with pushing things out of the way; resistance to motion of air and water.
Key Stage 4 Physics – Forces and Motion: Identify forces between solid objects which stretch, compress, bend, and turn, or affect movement. Explain that frictional forces affect movement and depend on the properties of the surfaces involved.
