Females with PCOS have elevated levels of male hormones. This causes a specific set of symptoms, including irregular or heavy menstrual periods, excess body and facial hair, and acne Female Fertility? Zinc also supports fertility by regulating normal hormone function, cell division and ovulation. As our bodies don't store zinc so it is important women wanting to become pregnant receive the recommended daily allowance of 8mg. ?Male Fertility? Getting enough zinc is one of the cornerstones of male fertility. Observational studies show that low zinc status or deficiency is associated with low testosterone levels, poor sperm quality, and an increased risk of male infertility. Zinc is an essential trace mineral that plays a role in sperm formation, testosterone metabolism, and cell motility. Zinc supplementation has been shown to increase testosterone levels, sperm count, and sperm motility. Hypothyroidism Zinc is needed for thyroid hormone production, and a deficiency can result in hypothyroidism. When used alone or in combination with selenium, 30 mg of zinc per day may help enhance thyroid function in people with Hashimoto's disease. Hashinotos Disease Hashimoto?s disease occurs when the immune system attacks the butterfly-shaped gland in the neck (thyroid). Initially, inflammation of the thyroid causes a leak resulting in excess thyroid hormones (hyperthyroidism). Over time, the inflammation prevents the thyroid from producing enough hormones (hypothyroidism). Proper zinc levels enable: tissue healing, repair of intestinal walls and stabilizing the immune system. Hashimoto's disease symptoms may often result from zinc deficiencies As many causes of zinc depletion are common co-occurring conditions in those with Hashimoto's, increasing your zinc levels may help reduce your symptoms and put your autoimmune thyroid condition into remission. Prostate Function Zinc is critical to normal prostate function. In fact, a normal prostate has the highest levels of zinc in the body. The prostate gland stores zinc, which not only prevents prostate enlargement but may also help to shrink a prostate gland that?s already swollen. Make sure that you're getting the recommended daily allowance ? 15 milligrams per day ? of zinc through foods such as pumpkin seeds (in the shell), oysters, nuts and beans, or by taking a zinc supplement The decrease in zinc and, subsequently, citrate levels is the most characteristic hallmark of prostate cancer. The important role of zinc as a regulator of apoptosis in prostate cells makes the decrease a likely cause for rather than a consequence of PCa. Therefore, an adequate dietary intake of zinc is essential for older adults. The consequences of only mild zinc deficiency, such as impaired immune system function, are especially relevant to the maintenance of health and may be critical in the prevention of age-related diseases. This study shows that, adequate zinc status especially in the prostate will help to maintain health and physiological function and prevent prostate disease from developing or further progressing. Acne Management Zinc supplements are often used to promote skin health and treat common skin conditions like acne. Zinc has been proven especially useful for decreasing symptoms of mild to moderate acne. According to one review,?not only did people with acne tend to have lower blood levels of zinc compared with those without acne, but zinc supplements were also able to decrease the average amount of inflammatory bumps caused by the condition. Zinc supplements are also often favored over other treatment methods, as they?re inexpensive, effective, and associated with far fewer side effects Immune Function? Zinc has the?ability to boost immune function and fight inflammation. Thus, it could potentially help treat certain types of infection if used when symptoms first appear. This?review?of?7 studies showed that zinc lozenges containing 80?92 mg of zinc may reduce the duration of the common cold by up to 33%. Zinc may also act as an antioxidant, reducing inflammation and protecting against chronic conditions like heart disease, cancer, and diabetes. According to this?review??of 28 studies, some evidence suggests that taking zinc could even prevent symptoms and shorten the duration of certain respiratory tract infections. Premium Quality ?
