Arabic and Islamic Certificates are Accepted by NMCN.

The Senior Arabic and Islamic Secondary School Certificate Examination (SAISSCE) is a legitimate substitute for WAEC and NECO for admission to nursing programs, according to an official directive from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN).

Ndagi Alhassan, the Acting Registrar and CEO of NMCN, signed a circular that was distributed to important parties, including teaching hospitals, vice chancellors, commissioners of health, and nursing directors, according to a report by Sahara Reporters.

Emphasising the importance of inclusivity and equal opportunity in nursing education, the Council reaffirmed SAISSCE’s recognition as being on par with other senior high school credentials.

The circular cited the approval of SAISSCE by the National Council on Education and the Federal Government during its 57th meeting in Sokoto in February 2011.

As part of efforts to maintain excellence in nursing education in line with international standards, institutions were directed to evaluate applicants with SAISSCE based on program-specific requirements and assure compliance with the directive.
