A lecturer at Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has drawn notice on social media after unannouncedly joining a student’s TikTok recording in a humorous scene that has delighted many people online.
The student was recording herself dancing on a stairway in a university building when she heard the lecturer approaching, as seen in the now-viral video posted by TikTok user @just_aliza01. She hurried to give him space out of respect. To her amazement, though, the lecturer changed from a formal to a light-hearted and enjoyable manner by looking into the camera for a moment, stroking his eyebrow, and playfully joining in instead of just leaving.
In response to the unexpected event, the student made a light-hearted allusion to a recent video that went viral at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), in which a female student was expelled for filming a lecturer. “POV: I nearly got ‘Uniziked,’ but it was Dr. Steeze,” she wrote as the caption for the photo.
Social media users have largely commended Dr. Steeze’s strategy, with many praising his capacity to establish a good and relevant connection with kids.
A little humour goes a long way in student-lecturer relationships, as seen by Dr. Steeze’s humorous response, which has spurred conversations about creating a more engaged and understanding academic atmosphere.
