INTRODUCTION
DOXO A TABLET is a combination of Ambroxol and Doxophylline, which belongs to theroup of medicines called Mucolytics and Bronchodilators. It is used to treat asthma (the airwayset narrow, swell and produce extra mucus, which leads to breathing difficulties, chest pain, a severe dry cough and a fast heartbeat) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder (a lung disorder in which the flow of air to the lungs is blocked, leading to shortness of breath, a dry cough with phlegm, wheezing, fatigue and weight loss).
Limit the consumption of beverages and foods containing caffeine while taking DOXO A TABLET as it may increase the risk of side effects. DOXO A TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with acute myocardial infarction and hypotension. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult your doctor for advice before taking DOXO A TABLET.
DOXO A TABLET is not recommended for use by children under 6 years of age. The most common side effects of taking DOXO A TABLET may include taste changes, nausea and numbness in the throat and mouth. Contact your doctor if any of your symptomset worse or persist.

HOW DOXO A TABLET WORKS
DOXO A TABLET is a combination of Ambroxol that stimulates the production of a substance that lowers surface tension, which keeps the air sacs in the lungs from collapsing after exhalation. Doxophylline inhibits certain enzymes in the body called phosphodiesterase, which increases the substances that lead to muscle relaxation, leading to dilation of the constricted airway tract. It also acts as an anti-inflammatory agent to reduce inflammation. This combined action makes breathing easier.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Take DOXO A TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with alass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. The correct dose and duration will be decided by your doctor for you depending on your age, body weight and disease condition.

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS
Nausea:
Take this medicine with or just after meals. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating fiber-rich or spicy foods. If the symptom does not improve, contact your doctor.
Taste changes:
Drink lots of fluids, such as water or fruit juice, to keep yourself hydrated. Rinse your mouth after each meal and clean your tongue once daily. Do not consume any medicine on your own without consulting your doctor.

PREGNANCY
DOXO A TABLET isenerally not recommended for use in pregnant women as the medicine can cross the placental barrier. Consult your doctor for advice before taking it.
BREASTFEEDING
DOXO A TABLET isenerally not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it may pass through the breastfed milk. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.
DRIVING AND USING MACHINES
DOXO A TABLET does not affect the patient?s alertness and therefore does not interfere with the ability to drive and use machines.
KIDNEY
DOXO A TABLET should be taken with caution in patients with impaired kidney function. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.
LIVER
DOXO A TABLET should be taken with caution in patients with severe liver disease. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.
ALLERGY
Do not take DOXO A TABLET if you are allergic to Ambroxol, Bromhexine, Doxophylline or other Xanthine derivatives.
LUNGS
DOXO A TABLET should be taken with caution in patients with existing lung conditions such as chronic obstructive lung disorder, severe uncontrolled asthma, pneumonia or bronchial motor activity disorder along with excessive mucous secretion (risk of a mucous plug).
HEART DISEASE
DOXO A TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with acute myocardial infarction and hypotension. It should be taken with caution in patients with heart disease, hypertension, pulmonary heart disease, congestive heart failure and severe hypoxemia.
OTHERS
Before taking DOXO A TABLET, inform your doctor if you:
Have hyperthyroidism

Have peptic ulcer or predilection for the development of peptic ulcers

Have concomitant infections

Have a low immune system due to other health conditions (e.g., HIV)
Use in Pediatrics:
DOXO A TABLET isenerally not recommended for use in children (under 6 years of age). Consult your doctor before taking it.
Use ineriatrics:
DOXO A TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients. Consult your doctor before taking it.
INTERACTIONS
A. Drug-Drug interactions:
Before taking DOXO A TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:
Medicines used as antibiotics (ex. erythromycin, TAO (troleandomycin), lincomycin, clindamycin)

Allopurinol (used to treatout)

Cimetidine (used to treat ulcers and indigestion)

Propranolol (used to treat hypertension)

Influenza vaccine (protect against flu infection)

Phenytoin (used in epilepsy treatment)

Medicines used in cancer treatment (ex. melphalan, busulfan, methotrexate)
B. Drug-food interaction:
Avoid consuming beverages and food containing caffeine while taking DOXO A TABLET as it may increase the risk of side effects.
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally took too much of this medicine, consult your physician immediately. The symptoms of overdosage include severe cardiac arrhythmias and tonic-clonic seizures may occur.
