Description Filtration Devices / Accessories Self-filling syringe DESCRIPTION AND APPLICATION RANGE infinitely adjustable up to 5 ml, Luer-Lock connector, autoclavable INTRODUCTION One very useful accessory are M&S special tweezers. These can be used after filtration to roll up membrane filters and place them into liquid media in narrow-neck bottles easily. An ideal complement to the nutrient pads are the ampoules with 3.5ml of sterile water. They contain exactly the right amount of water for an optimum moistening of the nutrient pads. The excess fluid is necessary to replace the water that evaporates during incubation and keep the nutrient pads wet. This ensures that the dissolved nutrients are provided for the growth of the cells on the surface of the membranes. A further way of moistening the NPS with sterile water is the use of our self-filling syringe. Its volume can be infinitely varied up to a maximum of 5 ml and it has a Luer-Lock connector onto which a sterile syringe filter unit can be fitted. This means that the preset volume of sterile water is dosed onto the nutrient pad with every stroke and the syringe is simultaneously refilled with water from a reservoir via a hose. This is ideal for large number of samples. Petri dishes with a diameter of 60 mm into which the agar can be poured, autoclavable bottles and tubes as well as a handy UV lamp for the fluorescent test, e.g. with the ECD-MUG NPS or Cetrimide agar round off the M&Srange of accessories.

Description Filtration Devices / Accessories Workstation for microbiological analysis DESCRIPTION AND APPLICATION RANGE complete with M&S vacuum filtration device 6010, suction flask, Woulff’s bottle, vacuum pump and hose set INTRODUCTION The range of M&S filtration devices and accessories is tailored to routine work in microbiology laboratories to facilitate your daily work. For example, the M&S stainless steel filtration devices have self-sealing funnels. This means that you do not need to lock the funnel on base of the filtration device. This not only saves time but also minimises the risk of damage to the filtration membrane due to shearing forces. The funnel volume of 100 ml is sufficient for the majority of applications. A 2-way Teflon tap is used to turn the vacuum on and off. What’s more, the filtration devices can be completely dismantled. This greatly facilitates their cleaning and sterilisation. Apart from a single-place filtration device we can also offer stainless steel filtration manifolds. These are ideal for work in benches on account of their compact dimensions. For work with a large quantity of samples a 3-place filtration manifold can quickly and easily be extended to a 6-fold manifold by connecting a second unit. The filtration manifolds can of course be completely dismantled for cleaning. For laboratories with only few samples or for those wanting to setup their own microbiological quality control we have put together a complete filtration workstation. It consists of a filtration device with suction flask and plug, a Woulff’s bottle with manometer and control valve, a small vacuum pump and the necessary hoses and connectors.
