Based on their NECO scores, a few UK colleges are currently thinking about admitting Nigerian students. Prof. Ibrahim Wushishi, the Registrar of the National Examinations Council (NECO), announced this development.
Prof. Wushishi disclosed that NECO has received inquiries about its exams from Birmingham City University and Lead University in the United Kingdom. According to Daily Trust, this outreach shows that worldwide educational institutions are increasingly acknowledging and accepting of NECO findings.
On Wednesday, May 15, Wushishi said in an interactive session with newsmen in Abuja that NECO has already complied with Birmingham City University’s standards and is presently working to meet Lead University’s needs.
Wushishi also touched on the difficulties that come with the NECO exams’ intricacy, which prevents an instant switch to computer-based testing (CBT). He emphasized that in order to be admitted to postsecondary institutions, over 1.5 million students take the NECO exams every year in 76 different topics and more than 150 papers.
Furthermore, this decision is in line with the accreditation of Alhaji Abdulkadir Maikudi’s Nigeria International School in Jeddah, according to Azeez Sani, the acting head of NECO’s Directorate of Information and Digital Communication.
