Renaissance University 2024/2025 Postgraduate Application Out
Renaissance University invites applications from qualified candidates for admission into regular postgraduate programs for the 2024/2025 academic year, leading to Postgraduate Diplomas, Master’s, and Doctorate degrees in the following
Departments and Institutes/Centres.
Renaissance University has four faculties: Natural and Applied Sciences, Management and Social Sciences, Law, and Health Science. National University Council-accredited courses are available. In our eco-friendly setting, certified instructors teach our courses. This ensures you get the greatest education possible.
Postgraduate program general entry requirements
Candidates for any University postgraduate program must:
- Have 5 credits in WASC, GCE, NECO, or NABTEB, including English Language, in two sittings.
- Candidates must also meet the minimum entrance criteria for first-degree and postgraduate programs in respective postgraduate fields.
- Renaissance University or other accredited university graduates with the necessary criteria must apply.
Postgraduate diploma program
Following may qualify for Postgraduate Diploma admission:
- Renaissance University or other accredited university bachelor’s degree graduates with at least a third-class honours and 2.0 GPA on a 5-point scale.
- HND holders with a 3.50 GPA or above may be accepted. Professional qualifications like Associate Institute of Bankers, Associate Certified Chartered Accountants, Associate Cost and Management Accountants, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, Chartered Professional Accountants, Associate Chartered Institute of Accountants, Association of National Accountants of Nigeria, etc. are advantageous for Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration admission. Professional candidates, such as HND, must have pre-professional credentials, such as 5 credits in WASC or GCE O/L or NECO, to meet the basic university entrance requirement for degree courses in their disciplines.
- Besides (i) or (ii), applicants may be accepted after clearing Department/Faculty examinations in specific instances.
- The Board of Postgraduate Studies and Senate of the University may admit candidates with equal credentials.
Masters Degree Program (Μ.A, M.SC, MBA, MPA)
These eligible for Master’s Degree entrance.
- Renaissance University or other accredited university graduates with a Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields with at least a second-class honours and 2.50 GPA;
- Candidates with applicable Renaissance University or other recognized university postgraduate diplomas and credit level passes with a minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 5-point scale or 3.0 on a 4-point scale;
- Candidates with unclassified first degrees and average scores above 50%; • For M.Ed. degree programs, candidates with a good second class single honors degree in teaching subjects and a merit level pass at Postgraduate Diploma in Education, or a third class honors degree with a credit level or above;
- In addition to (i) and (ii), MPA applicants must be public or private sector administrative/managerial professionals with at least two years of relevant experience;
- Fellowship holders with FIMLT, FNILT, NIPR, or comparable examinations. However, applicants with the aforementioned professional certifications must have been Senior Technologists or equivalents for at least three years;
- Candidates with non-listed credentials accepted by the University of Nigeria Senate.
PhD Programme
- Doctorate Degree admittance is available to Renaissance University or other accredited university graduates with Master’s degrees in the specified fields. Specifically:
- A minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 5-point scale and 3.0 on a 4-point scale is needed for Ph.D. admission in all departments except those specified in C(ii) below:
- Ph.D. programs in Music, Economics, Public Administration and Local Government, Psychology, Education, Medical Sciences, Health Sciences and Technology, and Business Administration require a minimum GPA of 4.0 on a 5-point scale.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4-point scale or a B (60%) average at Master’s degree level with appropriate medical research.
Master’s/PhD Programme
- A first-class university graduate may enter a Master’s/Ph.D. program. Details in Postgraduate Regulation
- Candidate having Master’s degree from a recognized university with at least 3.50 GPA on 5-point scale or 3.00 on 4-point scale who wants to complete Ph.D. in relevant field or department qualifies. Anyone with a poor GPA who cannot get a Ph.D. cannot get a Master’s.
- For faculties and departments that need a Master’s degree with a 4.00 GPA on a 5-point scale for Ph.D admission, individuals with a 3.50 GPA but not 4.00 may apply. A candidate who completes Department-specified Master’s curriculum with a 4.00 GPA is eligible for Ph.D. registration.
Students accepted into Master’s/Ph.D programs have two options:
- He/she might finish the Master’s degree program and then apply to continue with the Doctoral program without a new application form if he/she passes with a 3.50 or 4.0 GPA on a 5-point scale, depending on the Department/Faculty.
- After the first two semesters of the Masters’/Ph.D program, the student’s course performance may be assessed. Senate, on the recommendation of Departmental and Faculty Postgraduate Studies Committees and the Board of the School, may approve a Ph.D. program without completing the Master degree program if the student has a 3.50 or 4.0 GPA in coursework (as applicable to the Department/Faculty).
Course duration
- Postgraduate Diploma Regular Postgraduate Diploma—Two semesters
- Regular master’s degree: All Departments/Faculties except the Departments need 3 full-time and 5 part-time semesters.

TRANSCRIPTS
Candidates should obtain transcript request forms (D2) online and submit them to their previous universities/institutions to send their academic transcripts to “The Secretary, School of Postgraduate Studies, Renaissance University Ugbawka Enugu State“.
EXTRA INFORMATION
All data except the transcript would be entered online. Attach qualifying certificates/statement of result and NYSC discharge certificate (Exemption or Exclusion Certificate). Please note that To Whom It May Concern cannot replace the aforesaid certifications.
NOTE TO ALL APPLICANTS
- Computer-based postgraduate entrance screening is required for all candidates.
- Later announcement of Postgraduate Admission Screening date.
- A Ph.D. applicant must publish at least one paper from their thesis in a Renaissance University-certified journal to graduate.
- Before approval, Master’s Project Report and Ph.D Thesis must be plagiarism-tested.
