INTRODUCTION
DORLAX 5MG TABLET contains Bisoprolol which belongs to a group of medicines called Beta- blockers. It is used to treat stable heart failure in combination with other medicines. Stable heart failure is a condition in which patients of heart failure are receiving medication and show no physical symptoms suggestive of worsening of the condition.
DORLAX 5MG TABLET is used to treat high blood pressure (Hypertension) and angina pectoris (Chest pain). Hypertension is defined as persistently elevated arterial blood pressure and Angina is a type of chest pain which is caused by reduced blood flow to the heart as a result of coronary artery disease. Symptoms are feeling pressure, squeezing, heaviness, tightness or pain in the chest or a heavy weight is lying on the chest.
DORLAX 5MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients having heart and severe lung diseases, impaired blood supply of the arms and legs (peripheral arterial occlusive disease), severe blood circulation problem in limbs (Raynaud?s syndrome), untreated pheochromocytoma, metabolic acidosis, low blood pressure (Hypotension).
Before taking DORLAX 5MG TABLET, inform your doctor, if you have severe kidney or liver diseases, diabetes, are on strict fasting, ongoing desensitisation therapy, history of a scaly skin rash (Ex. psoriasis), pheochromocytoma, thyroid disorder, to receive general anaesthesia.
DORLAX 5MG TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant and breast-feeding women unless considered clearly necessary. Consult your doctor before taking it. DORLAX 5MG TABLET is not recommended for use in children. Consult your doctor before taking it.
The most common side effects of taking DORLAX 5MG TABLET are tiredness, feeling weak, dizziness, headache, feeling of coldness or numbness in hands or feet, low blood pressure, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea or constipation. Ask for your doctor?s advice if any of these worsen or doesn?t improve.

HOW DORLAX 5MG TABLET WORKS
DORLAX 5MG TABLET works by blocking certain receptors (beta-1 receptors) present mainly in the heart and prevents the binding of nerve chemicals such as epinephrine. Therefore, leading to decrease in heart rate, blood pressure and makes the heart more efficient at pumping blood around the body and it also reduces the amount of blood required by the heart, reducing oxygen demand. DORLAX 5MG TABLET also decrease the release of a substance called renin in the kidneys (which normally increases blood pressure), decreasing blood pressure and heart rate.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Take DORLAX 5MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicines with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your body weight, age?and severity of disease condition.
SIDE EFFECTS OF DORLAX 5MG TABLET
COMMON
Tiredness, feeling weak
Dizziness
Headache
Low pulse rate or slow heartbeat
Worsening of the pre-existing heart-failure
Coldness, numbness in your hands or feet

Sleep disturbances
Depression
Feeling weak
Dizziness when standing up
Breathing problems in asthma or chronic lung disease patients
Muscle weakness, muscle cramps
Exacerbation of existing heart rhythm disorders such as AV-block
RARE
Hearing problems
Blocked or runny nose
Reduced tear flow (dry eyes)
Inflammation of the liver (hepatitis), causing abdominal pain, loss of appetite and jaundice (yellowing of the whites of the eyes and skin and dark urine)
Increased levels of blood triglycerides and liver enzymes
Allergic reactions such as itching, flush, rash and severe allergic reactions, which may involve face, neck, tongue, mouth or throat swelling?or difficulty breathing
Impaired erection
Nightmares, hallucinations
Fainting
Stop taking DORLAX 5MG TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
Slowing of heart rate
Worsening of heart failure (increased breathlessness and swelling of legs)
Slow or irregular heartbeat
Worsening of symptoms of blockage of the main blood vessel to the legs
Dizziness or weakness or have breathing difficulty
HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS
Headache:
Rest and relax. Drink plenty of fluids such as water or electrolytes and apply a pain-relieving balm on the head if necessary. Do not consume alcohol. Contact your doctor if the symptom did not improve.
Nausea:
Take this medicine with or after meals. Stick to simple meals while taking this medicine. Avoid eating rich or spicy food. Do not take any medication on your own. Ask for your doctor?s advice if nausea doesn?t improve.
Vomiting:
Drink clear or ice-cold drinks. Eat light, bland foods and avoid fried, oily?or sweet foods. Avoid carbonated drinks. Ask for your doctor?s advice if vomiting doesn?t improve.
Runny nose or sneezing:
Take rest and have plenty of fluids to stay hydrates. Blow your nose using a soft tissue. Take steam. You can have warm fluids such as tea. If the symptom doesn?t improve, ask for your doctor?s advice.
Muscle pain:
Give your body a rest. Do not overexert or over stretch yourself. Do stress relieving activities such as yoga or meditation. If the symptom doesn?t improve, ask for your doctor?s advice.
Diarrhoea:
Drink lots of fluids, such as water or fruit juices to keep you hydrated. Do not take any medicine on your own for treating diarrhea. Contact your doctor if the symptom did not improve.
Constipation:
Eat plenty of fibre rich foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables?and cereals and drink plenty of water. Exercise more regularly.
Dizziness:
Try to rest and relax. Get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operate any machines while you are feeling dizzy. Do not consume alcohol, as it can aggravate your dizziness. Contact your doctor if the symptom did not improve.

PREGNANCY
DORLAX 5MG TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant women unless considered clearly necessary. Consult your doctor before taking DORLAX 5MG TABLET.
BREASTFEEDING
DORLAX 5MG TABLET is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it is not known if this medicine passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before taking DORLAX 5MG TABLET.
DRIVING AND USING MACHINES
Do not drive or operate any machines until you know the effect of DORLAX 5MG TABLET on your ability to drive.
KIDNEY
DORLAX 5MG TABLET should be taken with caution in patients with severely impaired kidney diseases. Consult your doctor before taking DORLAX 5MG TABLET.
LIVER

DORLAX 5MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with severely impaired liver function. Consult your doctor before taking DORLAX 5MG TABLET.
ALLERGY
?
Do not take DORLAX 5MG TABLET if you are allergic to Bisoprolol or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
LUNGS
DORLAX 5MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with breathing problems such as Asthma and COPD. Consult your doctor before taking DORLAX 5MG TABLET.
HEART DISEASE
DORLAX 5MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with heart diseases such as acute heart failure, heart conduction disorders such as 2 or 3rd degree AV-block, sick sinus syndrome, sinoatrial block, slow heart rate (bradycardia), low blood pressure (hypotension)?and cardiogenic shock. DORLAX 5MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients having other heart diseases such as congenital heart disease, restrictive cardiomyopathy, hemodynamically significant organic valvular disease, myocardial infarction (withing 3 months), 1st degree AV block?or Prinzmetal?s angina. Consult your doctor before taking DORLAX 5MG TABLET.
OTHERS
DORLAX 5MG TABLET is not recommended for use if you have:
Raynaud?s syndrome (severe blood circulation problem in the limbs)
Untreated pheochromocytoma
Metabolic acidosis
Low blood pressure
Peripheral arterial occlusive disease (late-stage vascular condition causing impaired perfusion of the arms and legs)
Before taking DORLAX 5MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you have:
Diabetes type 1
Strict fasting
Ongoing desensitisation therapy
Less severe blood circulation problem in the limbs
History of a scaly skin rash (Ex. psoriasis)
Thyroid disorder
To undergo general anaesthesia
Use in paediatrics:

Use in geriatrics:

Medicines used to treat heart diseases such as irregular or abnormal heartbeat, high blood pressure?or angina pectoris (Ex. quinidine, lidocaine, flecainide, disopyramide, phenytoin, propafenone, verapamil, diltiazem, digoxin, isoprenaline, dobutamine, clonidine, methyldopa, adrenaline, nor-adrenaline, moxonodine, rilmenidine, amiodarone, felodipine and amlodipine)
Medicines used for glaucoma (Ex. timolol, pilocarpine)
Medicines used to treat diabetes (Ex.?insulin, metformin, tolbutamide)
Medicines used in anaesthesia (Ex. propofol, lidocaine)
Medicines used to treat pain or inflammation (Ex. Ibuprofen, diclofenac, acetyl salicylic acid)
Mefloquine (used for treatment, prevention of malaria)
Medicines used for depression (Ex. imipramine, isocarboxazid, amitriptyline, clomipramine, moclobemide)
