Uses :

Onglyza 2.5 mg tablet is used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes.
How it works :

Onglyza 2.5 mg tablet increases the amount of insulin released by the pancreas, which in turn lowers the blood glucose levels.
Common side effects :

Headache, Upper respiratory tract infection, Hypoglycaemia (fall in blood sugar level) in combination with insulin or sulphonylurea, Nasopharyngitis.
Food interaction for onglyza :

It can be taken with or without food, but it is better to take Onglyza 2.5 mg tablet at a fixed time.
Alcohol interaction for onglyza :

Taking alcohol together with saxagliptin may affect blood glucose levels in patients with diabetes.
Pregnancy interaction for onglyza :

Onglyza 2.5 mg tablet is probably safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effects on the fetus, however, there are limited human studies. Please consult your doctor.
