GATISTAR 0.5% ( GATIFLOXACIN )?EYE DROPS 5 ML
Composition
Each ml contains Gatifloxacin 5 mg/ml.
Preservative: benzalkonium chloride 0.05 mg/ml.
Gatifloxacin is a broad-spectrum 4th generation quinolone antibiotic that is active against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. It is a DNA gyrase inhibitor and also inhibits topoisomerase IV.
Indications and Usage
The gatistar solution is indicated for the treatment of bacterial conjunctivitis caused by susceptible strains of the following organisms: Aerobic Gram-Positive Bacteria: Corynebacterium propinquum, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Streptococcus mitis, Streptococcus pneumonia.
Aerobic Gram-Negative Bacteria: Haemophilus influenza
Dose
Days 1 and 2: Instill one drop every two hours in the affected eye(s).
Days 2 to day 5: Instill one drop up to four times daily while awake
