Metronidazole diffuses into anaerobic bacteria?s cytoplasm, activated and reduced into a short-lived nitroso free radical and interacts with DNA, causing strand breakage and bacterial death.
Dosage: Typically taken orally, 3 times a days. Peak concentrations reached in 1-2 hours.Finish the prescribed course even if symptoms improve.
Warnings: Avoid alcohol during therapy and for 3 days after.
