Augmentin ES-600 is an antibiotic used to combat bacterial infections. It contains amoxicillin (600 mg in 5 mL) and clavulanate potassium (42.9 mg in 5 mL) in the form of a powder for oral suspension. Here are some important details about Augmentin ES-600:

Dosage in Pediatric Patients:

For pediatric patients aged 3 months and older, the recommended dose is 90 mg/kg/day divided every 12 hours, administered for 10 days. This dosage provides 6.4 mg/kg/day of the clavulanic acid component.
Example dosages based on body weight:

8 kg: 3 mL twice daily
12 kg: 4.5 mL twice daily
16 kg: 6 mL twice daily
20 kg: 7.5 mL twice daily
24 kg: 9 mL twice daily
28 kg: 10.5 mL twice daily
32 kg: 12 mL twice daily
36 kg: 13.5 mL twice daily

Dosage in Adult Patients:

Experience with Augmentin ES-600 in adults is not available. Adults who have difficulty swallowing should not be given Augmentin ES-600 in place of the 500 mg or 875 mg tablet of Augmentin.

Preparation of the Oral Suspension:

Tap the bottle until all powder flows freely.
Measure the total amount of water (see chart below) to be added in two parts.
Add approximately 2/3 of the total amount of water for reconstitution, replace the cap, and shake vigorously.
Add the remainder of the water (previously measured), replace the cap, and shake vigorously.
Refrigerate the suspension and discard it after 10 days.
Flavoring can be added using FLAVORx? (apple, banana cream, bubble gum, cherry, or watermelon flavor) for patients who wish to alter the taste.

Stability of Reconstituted Suspension:

The resulting suspension is stable for 10 days under refrigeration.
Some color change is normal during the dosing period.

Remember that Augmentin ES-600 is effective against bacterial infections but will not work for viral infections such as the common cold.
