INTRODUCTION
OSLAX contains Sodium Picosulfate which belongs to the group of medicines called Laxatives. It is used in the treatment and management of constipation. Constipation is a condition that causes difficulty to pass stools due to low fiber diet, low fluid intake, poor function of intestine muscles, staying in bed for long time, lack of exercise, taking medicines such as morphine or codeine, etc. Symptoms of constipation include less than three bowel movements a week, hard, dry or lumpy stools, pain, or difficulty to pass stools.
OSLAX is not recommended for use in patients with appendicitis, acute inflammatory bowel disease, severe stomach pain with nausea and vomiting, obstruction of intestine, severe dehydration, electrolyte imbalance and water fructose intolerance. Before taking OSLAX inform your doctor if you have kidney disease, heart disease, dehydration, fits or seizure disorder.
Before taking OSLAX inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breast-feeding. The most common side effects of taking OSLAX are loose stools, stomach discomfort, cramps in the stomach or stomach pain. Consult your doctor immediately if any of the symptoms worsen.

HOW OSLAX WORKS
OSLAX works by stimulating the movement of the intestine and increasing the accumulation of water and electrolytes in the intestine which helps to soften the stools and treat constipation.

Skin rashes such as urticaria, itching, red patches and blisters

Syncope (temporary loss of consciousness) or feeling fainted

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS
Nausea or vomiting:
Stick to simple meal plan. Avoid eating oily, fried or spicy foods. Do not involve yourself in strenuous activities immediately after eating and not to lie down or sleep immediately after eating. If the symptom does not improve, contact your doctor.
Diarrhea:
Drink lot of fluids, such as water or fruit juices to keep yourself hydrated. Do not take any medicine on your own for treating diarrhea. Contact your doctor if the diarrhea did not improve.
Stomach pain:
Try to take rest and relax. Eat and drink slowly or try to have smaller and frequent meals. Keep a heat pad on your stomach. If the symptom does not improve, contact your doctor.
Dizziness:
Lie down until dizziness passes away and then move slowly and carefully. Take plenty amount of rest and drink plenty of fluids. If the symptom does not improve, contact your doctor.
WARNING & PRECAUTIONS

PREGNANCY
The risks and benefits of using OSLAX in pregnant women are unclear. Consult your doctor for advice. Inform your doctor immediately if you become pregnant or think you may be pregnant before using OSLAX.
BREASTFEEDING
The risks and benefits of using OSLAX in breastfeeding mothers are unclear. Consult your doctor for advice.
DRIVING AND USING MACHINES
Do not drive or operate any machines if you feel dizziness or fainting while using OSLAX. Consult your doctor for advice.
ALCOHOL
OSLAX should be used with caution in alcoholic patients as it can worsen the existing condition.
KIDNEY
OSLAX should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease (such as impaired kidney function, etc.) only if recommended by your doctor. Consult your doctor before taking OSLAX.
LIVER
OSLAX should be taken with caution in patients who have or ever had any liver problems (such as liver cirrhosis, liver dysfunction, etc.). Consult your doctor before taking OSLAX.
ALLERGY
Do not take OSLAX if you are allergic to Sodium Picosulfate or to other ingredients of the medicine.
HEART DISEASE

OTHERS
OSLAX is not recommended for use if you have:
Appendicitis

Ileus (blockage in the intestine) or intestinal obstruction

Acute inflammatory bowel disease (inflammation of small and large intestine)

Severe stomach ache with nausea and vomiting

Severe dehydration and electrolyte imbalance

Water fructose intolerance
Before taking OSLAX, inform your physician if you have:
Fits or seizure disorder

Low potassium levels
Use in pediatrics:
OSLAX is not recommended for use in children less than 2 years of age. Consult your doctor for advice.
Use in geriatrics:
OSLAX should be taken with caution in elderly patients only if recommended by your doctor. Consult your doctor before taking OSLAX.
INTERACTIONS
A. Drug-Drug interactions:
Before taking OSLAX, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:
Bendrofluazide, furosemide (used to treat fluid build-up in the body)

Prednisolone (used to treat an inflammatory conditions of the body)

Digoxin, digitoxin (used to treat heart disease)

Antibiotics such as cefixime, erythromycin (used to treat bacterial infections)
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally takes more of OSLAX, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital immediately. Overdosage symptoms of OSLAX includes diarrhea, abdominal cramps, fluid and electrolyte imbalance in the body such as low potassium levels (which causes tiredness, dizziness, muscles weakness and uneven heartbeat), damage to the lining of the large bowel, secondary hyperaldosteronism, renal calculi or renal tubular damage, metabolic alkalosis and dehydration, increased thirst, fainting, headache, and decreased urination.
