INTRODUCTION
HEMOCARE BABY DROPS contains Ferrous ascorbate and Folic acid which belongs to the group of medicines called Hematinics. It is used in children to treat and prevent iron deficiency anemia and blood loss.
Anemia is when your body can?t produce enough of haemoglobin (a substance in red blood cells that enables them to carry oxygen), due to insufficient iron.
HEMOCARE BABY DROPS is not recommended to be taken if you have vitamin B12 deficiency, blood disorder, recurrent blood transfusions, stomach ulcer or other digestive disorders?or anemia that is not due to iron deficiency. Before taking HEMOCARE BABY DROPS, inform your doctor if you had or have folate dependent tumour?or if you had all or part of the stomach removed.
The most common side effects of taking HEMOCARE BABY DROPS are constipation, diarrhea, nausea, passing dark stools, pain in abdomen, etc. If any of the symptoms worsen, call your doctor.

HOW HEMOCARE BABY DROPS WORKS
HEMOCARE BABY DROPS helps treat and prevent anaemia where Ferrous ascorbate aids in the formation of haemoglobin (substance that carries oxygen to tissues and organs via blood) and Folic acid helps maintain the normal formation of new red blood cells (erythropoiesis).
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Give HEMOCARE BABY DROPS to your child as advised by your physician. Shake well before use. Your doctor will recommend the right dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition. Do not stop giving HEMOCARE BABY DROPS to your child unless your doctor advises you to stop.

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS
Nausea:
Take HEMOCARE BABY DROPS with?or just after meals. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily or spicy foods. If symptom persists, contact your doctor.
Diarrhea:
Have enough liquids like water or fruit juice to maintain hydration. If symptom persists, contact your doctor.
Constipation:
Have plenty of fiber rich foods like fresh fruits, vegetables, cereals and drink ample amount of water. Exercise more regularly. If symptom persists, contact your doctor.
Loss of appetite:
Eat when you are hungry. Eat smaller meals more often than usual. Snack only when you?re hungry. Eat a protein-rich or other healthy snack such as dried fruit and nuts. If symptom persists, contact your doctor.

ALLERGY
Do not give HEMOCARE BABY DROPS to your child if you are allergic to ferrous ascorbate, folic acid or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
OTHERS
HEMOCARE BABY DROPS is not recommended for use if your child have:
Hemochromatosis, hemosiderosis (iron overload disorders)
Hemolytic anaemia (an increased rate of destruction of red blood cells as compared to the rate of formation of red blood cells)
Any malignant disease (except megaloblastic anaemia due to folic acid deficiency)
Vitamin B12 deficiency
Any blood disorders
Recurrent blood transfusions
A stomach ulcer or other digestive disorders (Ex. regional enteritis, ulcerative colitis)
Anemia not occurring due to iron deficiency
Before giving HEMOCARE BABY DROPS to you child, inform your doctor if they have:

INTERACTIONS
A. Drug-Drug Interactions:
Before giving HEMOCARE BABY DROPS to your child, inform your doctor if you are giving any of the following medicines:
Medicines used to treat bacterial infections (Ex. ofloxacin, cotrimoxazole, chloramphenicol, sulfamethoxazole, tetracycline, neomycin)
Medicines used for epilepsy (Ex. carbamazepine, phenytoin)
Medicines used to reduce acidity (Ex. magnesium hydroxide, sodium bicarbonate, aluminium carbonate)
Penicillamine (used to treat rheumatoid arthritis)
Sulfasalazine (used for inflammatory bowel diseases)
Cholestyramine (used to reduce blood cholesterol or control diarrhoea)
Thyroxine (used for thyroid conditions)
Medicines used in bone problems (Ex. risedronate, alendronate, ibandronate)
Medicines used for certain cancers (Ex. aminopterin, methotrexate)
Pyrimethamine (used to treat malaria)
Trientine (used for Wilson?s disease)
Methyldopa (used for high blood pressure)
Zinc (used as mineral supplement)
B. Drug- Food Interactions:
Avoid giving tea, coffee, milk or eggs to your child at the same time as HEMOCARE BABY DROPS, as the body may absorb less of the iron supplement, which may reduce the effect of this medicine.
Overdosage:
If your child or anyone else accidentally take too much of HEMOCARE BABY DROPS, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdose include stomach pain, diarrhea or vomiting.

If you forget to give a dose of HEMOCARE BABY DROPS to your child, do it as soon as you remember. However, omit the missed dose if it?s almost time for the next one. Do not give HEMOCARE BABY DROPS two times to make up for the missed dose.
Can I stop giving HEMOCARE BABY DROPS to my child?
Continue giving HEMOCARE BABY DROPS to your child even if they feel better, until your doctor tells you to stop, unless you experience any unwanted effects, worsening of your condition or any new symptoms. Contact your doctor in such case.
