Maxiclav 1g injection is used for the short-term treatment of susceptible infections including:Upper and lower respiratory tract infectionsGenito-urinary tract infectionsSkin and soft tissue infectionsBone and joint infections.CompositionAmoxicillin 1000mgClavulanic acid 200mgDosage Based on amoxicillin:> Neonates & Premature infants: 25mg/kg every 12hrs> Infant up to 3months: 25mg/kg every 8hrs> 3 months ? 12yrs: 25mg/kg every 8hrs, increased to 25mg/kg/6hrs in more severe infections.>12yrs and adults: 1g 8hrly by IV over 3-4mins. Can increase to 1g 6hrly in more severe infections.Surgical prophylaxis:Adult: 1g at induction, with up to 2-3 further doses of 1g/8hrs if increased risk of infection.Presentation1vial for IV
