Cefxone Iv SpecificationRequires Prescription (YES/NO)YesGenericsCeftriaxone SodiumUsed ForBacterial InfectionHow it worksCeftriaxone works by inhibiting the mucopeptide synthesis in the bacterial cell wall. The beta-lactam moiety of Ceftriaxone binds to carboxypeptidases, endopeptidases, and transpeptidases in the bacterial cytoplasmic membrane. These enzymes are involved in cell-wall synthesis and cell division. By binding to these enzymes, Ceftriaxone results in the formation of defective cell walls and cell death.Cefxone Iv Usage And SafetyDosageCeftriaxone SodiumSide EffectsHypersensitivity reactions such as allergic skin reactions and anaphy lactic reactions, secondary infections with yeast, fungi or resistant organisms as well as changes in blood cell counts.Mycosis of the genital tract, neutropenia, leucopenia, eosinophilia, thrombocytopenia, anaemia (including haemolytic anaemia), slight prolongation of prothrombin time, anaphy lactic (e.g. bronchospasm) and anaphy lactoid reactions, headache, dizziness, Increase in serum liver enzymes (AST, ALT, alkaline phosphatase), rigors and pyrexia.Drug InteractionsCalcium containing IV solutions , oral hormonal contraceptives.IndicationIt is indicated for the treatment of the following infections due to susceptible organisms. Such infections include: Lower respiratory tract infections Acute bacterial otitis media Skin and skin structure infections Urinary tract infections (complicated and uncomplicated etc. When not to UseCeftriaxone is contraindicated in patients with:- Hypersensitivity to ceftriaxone or to any of the cephalosporins.- Previous immediate and/or severe hypersensitivity reaction to penicillin or to any other type of beta-lactam drug.- Premature newborns up to a corrected age of 41 weeks (weeks of gestation + weeks of life) .Cefxone Iv PrecautionsPrecautionBefore therapy with ceftriaxone is instituted, careful inquiry should be made to determine whether the patient has had previous hypersensitivity reactions to cephalosporins, Penicillins or other drugs.Cefxone Iv WarningsWarning 1An immune mediated hemolytic anemia has been observed in patients receiving cephalosporin class antibacterials including Ceftriaxone.Warning 2Patients with impaired vitamin K synthesis or low vitamin K stores (e.g, chronic hepatic disease and malnutrition) may require monitoring of prothrombin time during Ceftriaxone treatment. Vitamin K administration (10 mg weekly) may be necessary if the prothrombin time is prolonged before or during therapy.Warning 3Prolonged use of Ceftriaxone may result in overgrowth of nonsusceptible organisms. Careful observation of the patient is essential. The mechanism of action of celecoxib is believed to be due to inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis, primarily via inhibition of cyclooxygenase2 (COX-2), and at therapeutic concentrations in humans, celecoxib does not inhibit the cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1) isoenzyme.Celbexx Capsules Usage And SafetyDosageCelecoxibSide EffectsMost common : Gastrointestinal: Abdominal pain, diarrhea, dyspepsia, flatulence, nausea. For the management of acute pain in adults especially in post operative pain. When not to UseCelecoxib is contraindicated in: - Patients with known hypersensitivity to celecoxib.- Patients who have demonstrated allergic-type reactions to sulfonamides.- Patients who have experienced asthma, urticaria, or allergic -type reactions after taking acetyl salicylic acid (ASA) or other NSAIDs including other COX-2 specific inhibitors. Severe, rarely fatal, anaphylactic-like reactions to NSAIDs have been reported in such patients.- Patients with renal impairment associated with creatinine clearance of <30mL/min.- Patients with severe hepatic impairment (Child-Pugh Class C).- Patients who have previously had a myocardial infarction or stroke.- Patients for the treatment of peri-operativ e pain in the setting of coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery.- Patients with active pep tic ulceration or gastrointestinal bleeding and inflammatory bowel disease.- Patients with established ischemic heart disease (congestive heart failure), peripheral arterial disease and/or cerebrovascular disease.Celbexx Capsules PrecautionsPrecautionCelecoxib cannot be expected to substitute for corticosteroids or to treat corticosteroid insufficiency. Abrupt discontinuation of corticosteroids may lead to exacerbation of corticosteroid-responsive illness. Patients on prolonged corticosteroid therapy should have their therapy tapered slowly if a decision is made to discontinue corticosteroids.Celbexx Capsules WarningsWarning 1Fluid retention and edema have been observed in some patients taking celecoxib. Therefore, celecoxib should be used with caution in patients with fluid retention, hypertension or heart failure.Warning 2As with all NSAIDs, celecoxib can lead to the onset of new hypertension or worsening of pre-existing hypertension, either of which may contribute to the increased incidence of cardiovascular events .Warning 3A patient with symptoms and/or signs suggesting liver dysfunction, or in whom an abnormal liver test has occurred, should be monitored carefully for evidence of the development of a more severe hepatic reaction while on therapy with celecoxib. If clinical signs and symptoms consistent with liver disease develop, or if systemic manifestations occur (e.g., eosinophilia, rash, etc.), celecoxib should be discontinued.Celbexx Capsules Additional InformationPregnancy categoryAlways consult your physician before using any medicine.Storage (YES/NO)Store this medicine at room temperature, away from direct light and heat.Sku: 1716695558-2333
