Hematite is made up of iron and oxygen, giving it a distinct red, earthy color. Although hematite can form in a variety of appearances, this mineral is instantly recognized by the reddish brown streak it leaves behind when powdered. Ideal for teaching students about rounding and sorting, as well as for identification & classification exercises. Ideal for learning about mineral streak tests and provides a great visual aid for iron bearing rocks & minerals.
While each specimen will vary slightly in shape, size and color, it will measure approximately 1″ in length. Each is individually packaged, labeled & barcoded for easy identification and storage.
