Description

Atacand 16mg is a brand name of a drug called Candesartan. Candesartan belongs to a group of drugs called angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs). It works by preventing angiotensin II from binding to its receptor, which in turn blocks the vasoconstriction and aldosterone secreting effects of angiotensin II. In simple terms, Candesartan keeps your blood vessels from narrowing which leads to lower blood pressure and improved blood flow.
Candesartan must not be used in pregnancy because it can cause injury or death to the developing fetus. Common side effects include upper respiratory tract infections, dizziness, back pain, pharyngitis and rhinitis.
