INTRODUCTION
EXELON 13.3MG contains Rivastigmine which belongs to a group of medicines called cholinesterase inhibitors. This medicine is used to treat mild to moderately severe Alzheimer?s dementia and dementia due to Parkinson?s disease. Dementia is a progressive brain disorder where it affects memory, intellectual ability and behaviour gradually.
Alzheimer?s dementia or dementia due to Parkinson?s disease cause death of certain nerve cells resulting in low levels of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, a substance which allows nerve cells to communicate with each other.
Use this medicine exactly as instructed by your doctor. The dose you use will depend on your age, other medications you are taking and whether you have any kidney or liver problems. This patch is not recommended for pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers. The common side effects are dizziness, loss of appetite and agitation or sleepiness.

HOW EXELON 13.3MG WORKS
EXELON 13.3MG works by blocking the enzymes that break down acetylcholine. By blocking the enzymes, it increases the levels of acetylcholine in the brain that help in reducing the symptoms of dementia associated with Alzheimer disease and Parkinson?s disease.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Always use exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Take off the previous patch before putting a new patch on. Do not cut into pieces. Press the patch firmly in place for at least 30 seconds using the palm of the hand.
SIDE EFFECTS OF EXELON 13.3MG
COMMON
Loss of appetite
Dizziness
Agitated or sleepiness
Urinary incontinence (inability to retain adequate urine)
HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS
Dizziness:
Get up and move around to feel awake, take small naps to edge off the sleepiness. Give your eyes a break to avoid fatigue and eat a healthy food to boost energy.
Loss appetite:
Eating a small amount of food more frequently will not make you feel full. Avoid greasy and fried foods.

EXELON 13.3MG is not recommended for use in pregnant women unless necessary. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
BREASTFEEDING
EXELON 13.3MG is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women unless necessary. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
DRIVING AND USING MACHINES
Do not drive or operate machinery while taking this medicine, since it may cause fainting or severe confusion.
KIDNEY
EXELON 13.3MG should be used with caution in patients suffering from active kidney diseases. Consult your doctor for advice.
LIVER
EXELON 13.3MG should be used with caution in patients suffering from liver function impairment or active liver diseases. Consult your doctor for advice.
ALLERGY
Do not use if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Rivastigmine?or any other ingredients in this medicine.
HEART DISEASE
EXELON 13.3MG should be used with caution in patients suffering from irregular or slow heartbeat or any other active heart diseases. Consult your doctor for advice.
OTHERS

INTERACTIONS
Inform your doctor if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription or the following,
Dicyclomine (used to relieve stomach cramps or spasms)
Amantadine (used to treat Parkinson disease)
Diphenhydramine, scopolamine, or meclizine (used to prevent motion sickness)
Metoclopramide (used to relieve or prevent nausea and vomiting)
Atenolol (used to treat hypertension, angina, and other heart conditions)
