INTRODUCTION
FOLIMED TABLET contains Folic Acid (Vitamin B9) which belongs to the group of medicines called Folic Acid supplements. It is used for the prevention and treatment of anaemia due to lack of folic acid (in adults and children), during pregnancy, due to damaged red blood cells or certain medicines and in patients on kidney dialysis.??
FOLIMED TABLET is not recommended for use in patients suffering from cancer, pernicious anaemia (caused by vitamin B12 deficiency anaemia) and untreated vitamin B12 deficiency.??
FOLIMED TABLET should be used with caution in patients with epilepsy, folate dependent tumour, undergoing haemodialysis due to kidney failure and receiving coronary stent (a tube that is inserted in the artery that leads to the heart to prevent blockages).???
FOLIMED TABLET can be used in pregnant women and should be used with caution in breast feeding women. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.?
FOLIMED TABLET should be used with caution in children. Your child?s doctor may adjust the dose based on child?s age and body weight.?

USES OF FOLIMED TABLET
Used in the prevention and treatment of:

HOW FOLIMED TABLET WORKS
FOLIMED TABLET is converted into tetrahydro folic acid and methyl tetrahydrofolate which are required for the maintenance of normal production of red blood cells, hence it helps to treat and prevent anaemia. It also helps in proper spinal cord and brain development of unborn babies during pregnancy.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Take FOLIMED TABLET as advised by your physician. Consume the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the exact dose and duration of treatment for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS
Nausea:
Stick to simple meals while taking this medicine. Do not lie down or sleep immediately after eating. Avoid eating oil rich, fried or spicy foods. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve.

PREGNANCY

BREASTFEEDING
FOLIMED TABLET should be used with caution in breast feeding women. Consult your doctor before taking it.
DRIVING AND USING MACHINES
FOLIMED TABLET does not affect your ability to drive or operate any machines.
ALCOHOL
Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking FOLIMED TABLET.
KIDNEY
FOLIMED TABLET should be used with caution in patients undergoing haemodialysis due to kidney failure. Consult your doctor before taking it.
ALLERGY
Do not take FOLIMED TABLET if you are allergic to folic acid or any other ingredients of this medicine.
HEART DISEASE
FOLIMED TABLET should be used with caution in patients receiving coronary stent (a tube that is inserted in the artery that leads to the heart to prevent blockages). Consult your doctor before taking it.
OTHERS
FOLIMED TABLET is not recommended for use if you have:
Cancer

Pernicious anaemia (caused by vitamin B12 deficiency anaemia)

Untreated vitamin B12 deficiency
Before taking FOLIMED TABLET inform your doctor if you have:

INTERACTIONS
A. Drug-Drug interactions:
Before taking FOLIMED TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:
Fluorouracil (used to treat cancer)

Trimethoprim, sulphonamides (Ex. sulfamethoxazole), chloramphenicol (medicines used to treat bacterial infections)

Antacids containing aluminium or magnesium, edible clay (medicines used to treat acidity)

Preparations containing zinc such as vitamins or food supplements

Cholestyramine (used to treat high cholesterol)

Methotrexate, sulfasalazine (used to treat crohn?s disease)

Triamterene (used to treat high blood pressure)

Phenytoin, phenobarbital, primidone, sodium valproate, carbamazepine (medicines used for the treatment of seizures)

Lithium (used to treat mental problems)

Aspirin (medicine used to thin the blood)

General anaesthetic (medicine used during surgeries)

Proguanil and pyrimethamine (used to treat malaria)
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of FOLIMED TABLET, contact your doctor immediately or go to a hospital straight away. Overdosage symptoms of FOLIMED TABLET includes bitter taste, loss of appetite, nausea, flatulence (gas), nightmares, agitation, depression. The frequency and intensity of seizure attacks may increase in patients taking antiepileptic medicine (especially phenobarbital, phenytoin or primidone).
