INTRODUCTION
LACOVE 150MG TABLET contains Lacosamide which belongs to the group of medicines called Antiepileptics. It is used as an adjunctive treatment of partial onset seizures in patients above 17 years of age.
Epilepsy is a neurological disorder of the central nervous system in which the brain activity becomes abnormal, causing seizures or periods of unusual behavior, sensations and sometimes loss of awareness.
Before taking LACOVE 150MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you have or ever had a certain type of heartbeat problem called second or third-degree AV block.
LACOVE 150MG TABLET is not recommended to use among women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Your doctor will prescribe the right dose depends on your child?s age, body weight and disease condition. Consult your doctor before taking.
The most common side effects of taking LACOVE 150MG TABLET are headache, dizziness, nausea and double vision. Contact your doctor if any of the above symptoms worsen.

HOW LACOVE 150MG TABLET WORKS
LACOVE 150MG TABLET works slowly by inactivating the sodium gated channels, which decreases the abnormal and excessive activity of the nerve cells in the brain and controls seizures or fits.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Take LACOVE 150MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
SIDE EFFECTS OF LACOVE 150MG TABLET

COMMON

Headache

Nausea

Double or blurred vision

Myoclonic seizures (short jerks of a muscle or group of muscles)

Difficulties in coordinating movements or walking

Problems in keeping balance, tremors (shaking), tingling (paresthesia) or muscle spasms, falling easily and getting bruises

Troubles with memory, confusion

Rapid and uncontrollable movements of the eyes (nystagmus)

Vomiting, dry mouth, constipation, indigestion, excessive gas in the stomach or bowel, diarrhea

RARE

Symptoms of abnormal heartbeat (such as rapid, irregular or slow heartbeat, palpitations, shortness of breath, feeling lightheaded, fainting)

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS
Nausea or Vomiting:
Take this medicine with or just after meals. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oil-rich or spicy foods.
Diarrhea:
Drink a lot of fluids such as water or fruit juice to keep yourself hydrated. Do not consume any medicine on your own without consulting your doctor.
Constipation:
Eat plenty of fiber-rich foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables and cereals and drink plenty of water. Exercise more regularly

BREASTFEEDING

DRIVING AND USING MACHINES
Do not drive or operate any machines if you feel dizzy or blurred vision after taking LACOVE 150MG TABLET.
ALCOHOL
Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking LACOVE 150MG TABLET. Consult your doctor for advice.
KIDNEY
LACOVE 150MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with kidney problems. Consult your doctor before taking it.
LIVER
LACOVE 150MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with liver problems. Consult your doctor before taking it.
ALLERGY
Do not take LACOVE 150MG TABLET if you are allergic to Lacosamide or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
HEART DISEASE
LACOVE 150MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with second or third-degree AV block and LACOVE 150MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients who had heart disease like AV block, atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, heart failure or heart attack. Consult your doctor before taking it.

INTERACTIONS

Medicines used to treat heart problems

Medicines used to treat epilepsy or pain (Ex. carbamazepine, lamotrigine or pregabalin)

Medicines used for fungal infections (Ex. fluconazole, itraconazole or ketoconazole)

Medicine used to treat HIV (Ex. ritonavir)

Medicines used to treat bacterial infections (Ex. clarithromycin or rifampicin)

Herbal medicine used to treat mild anxiety and depression (Ex. St. John?s wort)
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally takes too much of LACOVE 150MG TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdose are dizziness, nausea, vomiting, fits (seizures), heartbeat problems such as a slow, fast or irregular heartbeat or a fall in blood pressure with rapid heartbeat and sweating.
