INTRODUCTION
PICLIN contains Sodium picosulfate which belongs to a group of medicines called stimulant laxatives. It is used for short term relief of functional constipation.
Constipation occurs when bowel movements become less frequent, and stools become difficult to pass. It happens most often due to changes in diet or routine, or due to inadequate intake of fiber. PICLIN works by increasing the intestinal motility, thereby aiding in the passage of stools. Functional constipation is a term used to describe a condition in which patients have hard, infrequent bowel movements that are often difficult or painful to pass. It is also known as chronic idiopathic constipation.
The most common side effects are abdominal discomfort, abdominal pain, abdominal cramps, and diarrhoea. Before taking this medicine inform your doctor if you have blockage in your bowel, upset stomach or your bowel movements have been inconsistent for more than two weeks, heart diseases, liver, or kidney diseases. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before taking this medicine.
