Together, they are the most common elements in our environment and form over 50% of the elements in the earth’s crust. Silicon is one of the essential elements of living matter and, after iron and zinc, is the third most abundant trace element in the human body. Silicon is contained in all cells and tissues but is particularly prevalent in connective tissues. Connective tissue is a vital component of the health of every organ in the body.
