Vinkocryl CMT 50N is a water-based dispersion of acrylic and styrene co-polymer. (Polyglactin 910) is an absorbable, synthetic usually braided suture.?
Viicryl sutures are used to suture small and large intestine, peritoneum, fascia, muscle, subcutaneous, tissue, and skin and also used in thoracotomy closure.
Of particular usefulness is the Vicryl suture closure of the entire wound except skin in thoracotomy wounds. Peri-costal, muscle, fascial, and subcutaneous layers su-tured with Vicryl. The slight tissue drag allows for rapid closure of the muscle layers with a continuous suture.
The satisfactory substitute for catgut suture, Vicryl (polyglactin 910) suture, was used in fifty-three patients who underwent general and thoracic surgical procedures. Theoretical advantages of increased strength, controlled absorption by slow depolymerization and dissolution, and superior handling characteristics were confirmed. No suture-related complications were observed.
