₦1 billion granted by the state governor for training teachers alone

At the inauguration of the state’s 27 newly appointed educational secretaries for local government education authorities on Tuesday, Zulum announced that 1,000 teachers who have been identified as holding ‘O’ level certificates and those who do not but have the necessary experience would be included in the training.
The secretaries were chosen after the state government’s 2005 compulsory education statute was reviewed in 2019. Education secretaries with the standing and benefits of permanent secretaries may be appointed politically, according to the legislation.
This comes two months after the suspension of teachers’ verification by the governor.
Prioritizing the education sector, which has seen a decrease in the number of out-of-school children from two million to 800,000 over the last five years, is what Zulum said his administration would focus on before opening up teacher training.
Formerly, Abba Wakilbe, the state’s Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, bemoaned the distorted condition of the education system, blaming it on incompetent management.
To facilitate their work at the LGAs, Zulum also announced that each of the twenty-seven education secretaries would receive a golf cart, a Hilux vehicle, and a monthly impress of N500,000.
