Professor Shaykh Luqman Jimoh, Malete, Vice-Chancellor of Kwara State University (KWASU), has voiced his deep condemnation of the unacceptable behaviour exhibited by certain students in social media videos that have gone viral and has said to carry out disciplinary actions against the student.
In the recordings, the students, wearing the university’s matriculation gowns, performed in ways judged unbefitting of higher institution pupils. In a statement issued to the student body on Monday, the Vice-Chancellor indicated that the students involved have been identified and will face disciplinary punishment to serve as a deterrence to others.
As a university, we are dedicated to maintaining the standard of quality that KWASU was established on. We will not put up with any attempts to diminish the institution’s standing or the years of arduous labour,” he declared.
Professor Shaykh underlined how crucial it is to preserve KWASU’s reputation and integrity, calling the students’ behaviour a mockery of the university’s excellent standards and a disdain for the commitment of the instructors.
“You own KWASU! You will carry her credential into the world and do great things, just like the hundreds of graduates who came before you. We have an obligation to safeguard this institution’s integrity,” he declared.
The Vice-Chancellor encouraged students to be proud of their identity as KWASU students and to refrain from acts that would damage the university’s reputation. He reminded them of the high standards set by former students who have achieved success all across the world.
“I urge you once more to follow the law and make an effort to be the best versions of yourself. We will continue to give you all the assistance you need to reach your objectives,” Professor Shaykh said
