During the 2023–2024 academic year, 100 students were expelled from the Federal Polytechnic in Nasarawa for allegedly engaging in exam cheating.
At the institution’s 41st matriculation ceremony, which took place over the weekend, Acting Rector Dr. Hauwa Muhammad made the news.
In the Nasarawa Local Government Area, the event welcomed about 15,000 newly admitted pupils for the 2024–2025 school year. These students participated in part-time, national diploma (ND), and higher national diploma (HND) programs.
Using the expulsion of their predecessors as a warning, Dr. Muhammad urged the new students to avoid exam malpractice. “Let everyone learn from the expelled kids’ experience. Academic dishonesty of any kind is not tolerated at this university,” she underlined.
She also promoted a culture of peaceful cooperation on campus by urging students to abstain from social vices like drug misuse, immoral attire, and cultism.
