South Korea’s Seoul In order to pursue a Master’s degree in Electrical and Information Engineering at Seoul National University of Science and Technology (SeoulTech), Olumide Odeyemi, a Nigerian engineer and First Class graduate of the University of Ilorin, has been granted the renowned Global Korea Scholarship (GKS). The Korean government funds the scholarship, which includes health insurance, monthly living stipends, round-trip flights, and full tuition.

Throughout his undergraduate studies, Odeyemi became passionate about communications engineering due to his great interest in technology and creativity, which ultimately led him to specialise in telecommunications. He started applying for international scholarships in 2023 because he was determined to increase his knowledge in the profession, and in 2024 he received the GKS and Türkiye Burslari Scholarships. He eventually decided to study in South Korea, citing the nation’s technical growth as a driving force.
For recipients who do not meet the language requirement, the Global Korea Scholarship also includes a fully financed one-year Korean language program. International students like Odeyemi are guaranteed a seamless academic and cultural adjustment thanks to our all-encompassing support.
Odeyemi’s application was strengthened by his stellar academic record, leadership activities, and charity work. In addition, because of financial limitations that prevented him from taking standardised examinations like the GRE, he deliberately concentrated on scholarship options that recognised evidence of English competence from Nigerian colleges.
In light of his experience, Odeyemi advises aspiring students to get started early, do extensive research, and consult with previous academics for advice. He attributes his accomplishments to deliberate preparation, guidance, and tenacity. He is now concentrating on wireless communications at SeoulTech with the goal of advancing global technology and strengthening Nigerian-South Korean relations.
