AAU bans student and staff travel during #EndBadGovernance protest
Less than 24 hours remain before the scheduled countrywide #EndBadGovernance demonstration in Nigeria. In response, the administration of Ambrose Alli University (AAU) in Ekpoma has implemented a ban that limits student mobility to their assigned dormitories and flats.
The decision was issued by the university’s Acting Registrar, Comrade Ambrose E. Odiase, in a statement published on Wednesday in Benin City, as reported by DAILY POST. The directive adheres to the rules set by the National Universities Commission (NUC) with the objective of guaranteeing the safety of students and staff in Nigerian higher education institutions.
Odiase stressed that the university management instructed students and staff to stay composed, assuring them that security measures are in place to safeguard lives and property both on and around the campus.
The message asked students and staff to refrain from unnecessary movements during the planned demonstrations. Strongly consider restricting your travel activities now and refrain from making any visits beyond Ekpoma.
“Students residing in university dormitories must stay on campus, while those living off-campus should remain at their own residences.”
Staff and students should maintain their regular academic pursuits and avoid areas of possible conflict to minimize potential hazards or threats from the planned demonstration.
