school environment, adapting to a new school
If you’re someone that just recently started at a new school or you’re planning on going to a new school in the near future, you might feel like you’re losing a lot of things: your social life, your ability to navigate the school and your friends. But a new school presents new opportunities for you so it is important you know how to adapt to your new school. Now going through this change of starting at a new school can be kind of difficult because you don’t know anyone, and you don’t know where exactly to begin.
New schools for the most part are completely new environments so you’re kind of left in this position where it’s like “ok, I kind of have to like start over and rebuild everything all over again.”
And the process of adapting to a new school feels a bit daunting but, it’s actually a positive.
You can actually do something better in your new school than what you did at your previous school.

So think about it like this, how long did it take you to develop your identity at your old school?
The person you are, the things that you like, and the people you spend time with.
You just don’t develop solid friendships with people on one or two interactions.
You’ll need to spend time around them to get to know them and to really feel comfortable putting yourself out there and for them to do the same.
And because at your old school, that was something you kind of had to learn while experiencing it, you now carry that knowledge on how to do it moving forward so, it should be a little bit easier when it comes to approaching and talking to people.
Change is something people are often afraid of because it means going outside of our comfort zone.
But when we do take that step outside of our comfort zone, we expand our confidence and we expand our ability to actually perform and do things better.

One of the major benefits that people don’t realize when they start at a new school
is that no one knows who you are so, you’re free to craft your own identity however you
want to which makes it easier to adapt to your new school.
A sort of unwritten rule when it comes to kids at new schools is that you kind of get a pass when it comes to approaching people and talking to them and asking them questions.
No one is gonna fault you for being a new kid and not knowing things but that does present an opportunity for you to get to know people better without having to kind of worry about them judging you for being new.
If you overhear a group of people talking about something that you’re interested in, you can approach them as the new kid and no one’s gonna say buzz off because you’re new and you don’t know a lot of things there.
It doesn’t change the fact that you may still feel lonely because your friends aren’t there or it’s a new environment and you’re just not used to it but use the opportunity to interact with others, to develop friendships faster than it took you in your old school before.
And keep in mind, if you’re not the only new kid that’s there then that means there are other people there that are experiencing the same newness as you so that’s an easy thing for you to bond with them over because you’re both going through this experience together.
