Due to their suspected involvement in cult-related activities, eight secondary school pupils from Ifo High School have been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command.
CSP Omolola Odutola, the command spokeswoman, confirmed the arrest in a statement released to reporters in Ota on Saturday.
At approximately 12:05 p.m. on March 21, 2025, a teacher named Mr. Akinseku Oloruntoba Julius and the vice principal of Ifo High School, Mr. Alako Oluwole, reported that a group of students were extorting valuables from their peers, causing disturbances, and engaging in cult-related activities, according to Odutola.

In response to the report, eight pupils suspected of being participating in cult activities were arrested by the Ifo Divisional Police Officer working with school officials. The pupils were part of a cult called the “Future Guys,” which was allegedly started by two senior students, according to preliminary findings.
The pupils’ identities have been kept secret, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), and they will go through a rigorous screening process.
Odutola added that the police have started a thorough investigation to determine the extent of cult-related activities at the school and to stop them from happening again.
After preliminary investigations were completed, she said, the kids will be moved to the State Criminal Investigation Department for additional questioning.
The kids must be brought before CP Lanre Ogunlowo, the Commissioner of Police, for additional interviews on the next business day. He also revealed intentions to offer mentorship and counselling programs in an attempt to reduce student cultism.
Ogunlowo called on parents, educators, and community leaders to collaborate in the fight against cultism in schools and reaffirmed his commitment to upholding law and order in Ogun State.
