With great pleasure, the Karim Adeyemi Foundation announces the International Day of Sports for Development and Peace (IDSDP) Essay Competition, an exclusive event honoring sports’ capacity to bring people together and promote inclusion and peace. We welcome Oyo State public secondary school students to participate in this creative endeavor, which explores the power of athletics to unite disparate groups, particularly within Nigeria’s varied terrain, following the thrilling 2024 African Cup of Nations.

Examine how athletics may serve as a unifying force between disparate communities and a means of dismantling social barriers via your entries.

Stages of the Competition and Prize

The contest takes place in two exciting stages:

  • The Expression of Interest (EOI) stage sets the tone for your essay-writing journey by asking you to use a variety of media to express your love of sports and sense of patriotism.
  • To spur change and advance a more peaceful society, finalists will write essays that address the issue in-depth, clearly, and imaginatively in the Finals.

Transportation reimbursements will be awarded to finalists, so all you have to focus on is your performance. Certificates of participation will be given to all competitors who make it to the final round, and the best ten submissions will be highlighted on the foundation’s social media accounts.

The top three winners will receive commemorative plaques and monetary awards in appreciation of their exceptional contributions to the conversation about sports and social development.
