First Class Shares Bravely Sending in a CV Without Being Invited.

Abdullahi Muhammad Ahmad, 23, a Political Science graduate from Al-Qalam University in Katsina with a 4.50 CGPA, took an unusual move in his desperate search for work: he went to a company without being asked to submit his resume, even though there were no open positions or interviews planned.

In an exclusive interview with Legit.ng, Ahmad revealed that his brother urged him to attempt a different strategy—by physically presenting himself to the companies he admired—after he had sent innumerable emails to them with no response.

Ahmad, a native of Kano State, revealed that he had been actively looking for work as a research assistant or policy research analyst but had been turned down time and time again. Following his brother’s recommendation, he made the decision to go straight to a company of interest and ask the management for a meeting so he could personally discuss his qualifications, enthusiasm, and the value he could add to their team.

“I applied via email to a number of organisations, but I was unsuccessful. My brother advised me to personally visit businesses to introduce myself and demonstrate how I could bring new ideas and energy to their job,” he stated.

Ahmad acknowledged that the corporation is headquartered in Kano, but he declined to reveal its identify. Ahmad was welcomed by the manager, a well-known acquaintance. His qualifications were praised by the manager, who also promised to keep his resume on file for any future vacancies.

“The manager was really encouraging and impressed with my resume, but the organisation didn’t hire me right away. He promised to get in touch with me if there are any openings,” Ahmad disclosed.

Ahmad is currently searching for a suitable employment at this time. Although he is willing to working in any state in Nigeria, he stated that he would prefer possibilities in Kano or Abuja, where he has family support.

Ahmad responded that his love of research and his drive to learn about political ideologies, leadership styles, and historical governance models are the main reasons he is passionate about political science.

Many people have found resonance in Ahmad’s experience, which serves as a reminder that in a competitive employment market, occasionally audacious actions and in-person interactions can leave a lasting impact.
