A principal from Zamfara State has earned recognition as the best in Nigeria at the 2024 Presidential Teachers and School Excellence Award.
Every year on October 5th, the world celebrates World Teachers’ Day, a designation UNESCO established in 1994 to honor the vital role teachers play in transforming society.
The 2024 award winners received their honors on Saturday at Eagle Square, Abuja, where Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, presented them with various gifts.
Musa Yahaya Paila, principal of Sambo Secondary School in Gusau, won the Best Principal Award for public Senior Secondary Schools across the country. He received a medal and a brand-new car.
Sulaiman Bala Idris, spokesperson for Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal, praised Mr. Paila for this achievement.
He noted that the award reflects the positive outcomes of Governor Lawal’s declaration of a state of emergency in Zamfara’s educational sector on November 14, 2023.
“Governor Lawal’s administration is delivering on its promise to revamp the nearly collapsed education system,” Mr. Idris stated.
On Saturday, the Nigerian Government celebrated the 2024 World Teachers’ Day with the theme “Valuing Teachers’ Voices: Towards a New Social Contract for Education.”
The winners of the 2024 Presidential Teachers and School Excellence Awards, representing public and private primary and secondary schools nationwide, received a diverse range of prizes.
These included cars, motorcycles, generators, and various other valuable awards, celebrating their exceptional contributions to education.
