IAUE Gets 14 New Programmes NUC Approval

Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE) in Rumuolumeni, Port Harcourt, has received approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) for the establishment of fourteen new academic programs.

This approval was granted by the Acting Executive Secretary of NUC, Mallam Chris J. Maiyaki, in a letter dated December 11, 2024, addressed to the Acting Vice Chancellor of IAUE, Professor Okechuku Onuchuku.

The new programs, which will commence in the 2024/2025 academic session, will be offered in full-time mode at the university’s main campus. These programs include a mix of undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in various fields:

Undergraduate Programs:

  • B.A. Linguistics
  • B.A. Philosophy
  • B.Sc. Peace and Conflict Resolution
  • B.Sc. Petroleum Economy and Policy Studies
  • B.Sc. Geophysics
  • B.Sc. Industrial Chemistry
  • B.Sc. Public Administration
  • B.Sc. Hospitality and Tourism Management
  • B.Sc. Statistics
  • B.Sc. Mass Communication
  • B.Sc. Software Engineering

Postgraduate Programs:

  • M.A. and Ph.D. in Music
  • M.A. and Ph.D. in Religion and Cultural Studies
  • M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Computer Science

A team of experts had earlier visited the university to evaluate its resources and readiness for the new programs. The approval marks a significant step in expanding the academic offerings at IAUE.
