After declining an overseas scholarship because her lover refused to be in a long-distance relationship, a young woman expressed her grief on social media. A week later, she found out that he had cheated on her.
She disclosed that she had deceived her family by saying she didn’t get the scholarship in order to continue living with her lover in a post on X (previously Twitter). But she was devastated by his betrayal.

Social media users’ reactions to her post were swift and widespread, with many praising her choice and offering words of support.
Her boyfriend’s lack of support was a warning sign, according to some, while others advised her to put her future before relationships. “You should have left him the moment he said he couldn’t do long distance—he wasn’t willing to compromise or sacrifice,” one person wrote in a comment.
“Youth is the time for life lessons,” another person said. It’s better to act now rather than later. Due to men, some women in their forties continue to miss out on possibilities. At least you won’t be like this ever again.
Since then, the post has sparked a lot of conversation, with many people highlighting how crucial it is to prioritise personal development over fleeting relationships.
