Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, celebrated its 35th anniversary and 17th convocation. Vice Chancellor Professor Razaq Olatunde Rom Kalilu stated that 94 of 11,528 graduates received first-class honours at a news meeting. There were 2,086 second-class higher graduates, 3,494 second-class lower graduates, 756 third-class graduates, and 12 passes. These 8,102 alumni earned bachelor’s degrees.

Equally impressive was health science performance. Seven nursing students received honours, 1,741 upper credit, and 145 lower credit. The Vice Chancellor said 133 Medicine and Surgery students passed, indicating a good academic performance.
Many events were planned for the convocation and anniversary. April 16 features a tree-planting ceremony, research fair and exhibition, convocation play, and cultural acts. April 17 is convocation talk and alumni day, April 18 and 20 are Jumat and church services. First degrees and prizes will be awarded on April 22, followed by postgraduate and higher degrees on April 23.
Professor Kalilu also confirmed and launched six new academic programmes: Theatre Arts, Psychology, Mass Communication, Linguistics, Yoruba, and Political Science. Five new courses have been added to the university’s Open and Distance Learning platform, including Cyber Security Science and Environmental Protection.
Academic connections with Kentucky, Utah, and Germany’s Alexander von Humboldt Foundation help LAUTECH expand globally. The university remains Nigeria’s best state university and was ranked second nationally and 251–300 globally in the 2025 Interdisciplinary Science Ranking. Professor Kalilu urged stakeholders to support LAUTECH’s goal of becoming a top 100 university.
