Meet a 15-year-old Teen who made the largest Art Canvas.

Kanyeyachukwu Tagbo Okeke, a 15-year-old Nigerian talent, broke the Guinness World Record for the largest painting and is scheduled to reveal the largest art canvas ever created by a single person on April 2, 2025.

His ground-breaking work, Impossible is a Myth, is 12,303 square meters in size. Millions of people worldwide are inspired by this colossal work, which displays Kanyeyachukwu’s extraordinary brilliance, inventiveness, and fortitude.

The Society of Nigerian Artists (SNA) President Muhammad Sulaiman praised Kanyeyachukwu’s artistic development, which started when he was a young boy and realised the expressive potential of colour.

His art exemplifies the limitless possibilities of creativity as a means of advocacy, communication, and change. Sulaiman said, “Impossible is a Myth, which was created in his unique abstract expressionist style, provides a glimpse into the vibrant landscape of his mind and tells a powerful story of overcoming adversity.”

The SNA’s general secretary, Rowland Goyit, emphasised the accomplishment’s broader significance by pointing out that Kanyeyachukwu’s work defies social norms and conventional artistic standards.

This accomplishment not only establishes a new benchmark but also supports the notion that art is a place that is open to all. It demonstrates that neurodivergent people can contribute significantly to international discourse and culture,” Goyit said. Tagbo Okeke, Kanyeyachukwu’s father, credited his son’s accomplishments to a mix of hard work, commitment, and organised assistance.

When Kanyeyachukwu realised the expressive potential of colour, his artistic path took off. We devised a timetable to assist him in maintaining concentration, striking a balance between his interest and everyday obligations,” he said.

As he considered his son’s development, Tagbo Okeke highlighted the life-changing impact of art on Kanyeyachukwu.

The fact that he is an autistic child is the most significant result, regardless of the accolades and exhibits. Art has been a crucial instrument in helping him find his voice; he was before entirely non-verbal but is now partially communicative,” he said.

He also recognised the difficulties Kanyeyachukwu encounters, such as the mental anguish he has when he finds it difficult to paint.

“People only see the finished artwork, but they don’t witness the struggles—his meltdowns when he is told to take a break. Many autistic children face these moments, but it is essential to teach them structure, social skills, and independence,” he added.

Over the course of 12 weeks, the enormous piece of art, Impossible is a Myth, was painted on a large canvas using acrylic paint. On April 2, 2025, it will be formally revealed in Abuja’s Eagle Square.

Along with educational and advocacy programs meant to raise awareness of autism, inclusivity, and the transformational power of the arts, plans are in the works for a national and worldwide tour of the artwork.
