The Federal Government has designated Monday, September 16, 2024, as a public holiday in observance of Eid-ul-Mawlid. This commemorates the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced this on behalf of the federal government in a statement issued by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani.
In congratulating the Muslim Ummah on this occasion, he urged Muslims to use the opportunity to pray for lasting peace and a more wealthy, equal society. The minister encouraged Muslims and other Nigerians to adopt the principles of patience, sacrifice, and resilience.
