Ogun Monarch Obtains PhD

Ogun Monarch Earns PhD, Aspires to Pursue Academic Career

Oba Lukman Adeleke Kuoye, Olu of Imasayi, earned a PhD in social work at Lagos State University’s 27th convocation with 11,195 other graduates. His journey and goals are discussed in an interview with OLUFEMI ADEDIRAN.

Oba Kuoye credits focus, stamina, and determination for his achievements. A lifelong dream of becoming a famous scholar drove him despite his customary rulership. He thinks this goal has driven him from infancy 57 years ago.

Oba Kuoye wants to teach or consult after getting his PhD. As a certified social worker, his thesis explored Ogun State’s mental health support services. In response to increased drug misuse and despair, he called for government help and stricter legislation.

The monarch hopes to encourage his subjects by showing that education is accessible. He stresses the value of knowledge in helping people even without jobs.
