Place Merit Above Nepotism In Teachers’ Recruitment

The Osun State government has been encouraged by the national leadership of the National Association of Osun State Students (NAOSS) to make sure that the hiring process for teachers is transparent, prompt, merit-based, and free of any kind of nepotism or favoritism.

This comes after the Osun State Executive Council decided on Wednesday to hire 250 education executives and 5000 teachers right once to cover open positions in the state teaching service.

Akinnibi Miftau praised the state government for the recruitment effort in a statement released on Thursday in response to the development and signed by the National President of NAOSS.

He declared: “With the motto “Epoch of Excellence,” the National Association of Osun State Students (NAOSS) NHQ, under the direction of Comr. Akinnibi Miftahu uses this platform to express our sincere gratitude to the Osun State Government for its recent decision to approve the hiring of 5000 teachers in the state.

“This program demonstrates a proactive approach to addressing our beloved state’s urgent need for high-quality education and human resource development.

“The government’s consistent commitment to prioritize education as a crucial pillar of societal development is demonstrated by the approval of this recruitment. The government is improving the quality of education and making sure that our pupils have the assistance and direction they need to succeed academically by funding the hiring of talented teachers.

Moreover, this choice is in line with the government’s goal of creating a supportive educational environment that equips our children with the information and abilities needed to successfully compete on the world stage. It emphasizes how education is recognized as a driving force behind empowerment and socioeconomic change.

In addition to addressing the current teacher shortage, the hiring of 5000 new teachers will greatly lower the teacher-to-student ratio in our classrooms. This will therefore make it easier to provide each student with individualized attention, improving their learning outcomes and overall educational experience.

Additionally, the government is generating jobs in our areas for competent individuals by giving priority to the recruitment of teachers.

In addition to reducing unemployment, this program will promote social stability and economic expansion throughout the state.

“We commend the government for adopting an inclusive strategy to involve pertinent parties in the hiring process, such as professional associations and educational institutions.

“By working together, we can guarantee meritocracy, openness, and justice in the candidate selection process, which would ultimately improve Osun State’s educational system.

Furthermore, we implore the government to make sure that there is no nepotism or favoritism and that the hiring process is carried out in a transparent, timely, and merit-based way. The most competent applicants must be chosen based on their academic background, prior teaching experience, and enthusiasm for sharing information.

As parties involved in the education sector, we promise to assist the government in reviving and modernizing Osun State’s educational system. We acknowledge that education will play a critical role in determining our state’s future and pledge to work closely with the administration to actively pursue our common objectives of developing human capital and achieving educational excellence.

Finally

We congratulate the Osun State Government once more for its forward-thinking leadership and proactive measures to raise the standard of education in the state. The government’s determination to create a thriving, knowledge-driven society for the benefit of all citizens is demonstrated by the approval of the hiring of 5000 teachers.”
