Nigerian-American 18-year-old Osariemen Unuigbe has been accepted to six Ivy League universities in the US, making her one of the brightest young minds of her generation. Osariemen, born to Edo State immigrants Dr. Augustine and Dr. (Mrs.) Florence Unuigbe, is a source of Nigerian pride worldwide.
Unuigbe, a senior at Egg Harbour Township High School in New Jersey, was accepted into Harvard, Yale, Cornell, Columbia, Penn, Rutgers, Duke, Spelman College, and the Governor’s School of New Jersey. Her academic record and extracurricular activity support her success.
Her family celebrated her triumph, calling it a miracle and praising faith and hard effort. Leadership, lacrosse, and dance, painting, and drawing show Osariemen’s well-rounded personality.
She was named a 2025 “Rising to the Top” scholar by the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc., Southern New Jersey Chapter for her excellence. Her story shows how Nigerian students in the U.S. are advancing academics and culture.
According to the Open Doors Report on International Educational Exchange, Nigerian students in U.S. colleges increased 13.5% to 20,029 in 2023/2024, demonstrating Nigeria’s brightest talents’ worldwide effect.
