Ranked in the top 8.5% globally, the University of Lagos (UNILAG) Akoka comes in 52nd in Africa and 1774th among 20,966 universities worldwide.
The 2024 Global 2000 List by the CWUR presently ranks the University of Lagos (UNILAG) Akoka within the top 8.5% of universities worldwide.
Ranked 1774th worldwide and 52nd in Africa UNILAG CWUR ranks UNILAG as the 52nd best institution in Africa and 1774th internationally, putting it among the top 8.5% of universities in the world. Wednesday, May 28, this accomplishment was posted on the official X handle of the university—formerly Twitter @UnilagNigeria.
Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS, UNILAG Vice-Chancellor, hailed the university community for this outstanding achievement.
The CWUR rankings rely on four main pillars of indicators:
The four key pillars of World University Rankings Education (25%) – Based on the proportion of alumni of a university with notable academic success compared to its size.
Employability (25%) – Based on the size of the university, evaluated by the number of alumni occupying top executive roles in the biggest worldwide corporations.
Faculty (10%) assessed by the count of faculty members with outstanding academic standing.
40% of research Made of four standards:
Research output (10%) – Overall count of research publications.
Excellent papers (10%). — Count of research papers in elite publications.
Influence (10%) – Count of extremely influential journals’ published articles.
Citations (10%) – Count of very often referenced research publications.
