After being caught on camera reportedly extorting ₦16,000 in cash from students requesting admission clearance, a staff member at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) has come under fire.

The university administrator is seen counting money that a student hands him in the video, which was posted on social media site X (previously Twitter). The staff member refused to take bank transfers and insisted on only taking cash payments, according to the anonymous student who uploaded the video.
In the video, the whistleblower asserted that the identical demand was being made of hundreds of Faculty of Agriculture students:
“Nigerians, come to our help. This is the Faculty of Agriculture doing clearance.” “This man is collecting ₦16k from each student — this is not fair. Thousands of students are coming to do clearance. He tells you he doesn’t take transfer.”
Online indignation has been triggered by the widely shared video, with many urging the university and pertinent authorities to look into the alleged extortion and enforce accountability.
