PTDF Overseas Postgraduate Scholarship Program in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Malaysia, 2024/2025

Applications for overseas MSc and PhD scholarships are being accepted by institutions as part of a strategic partnership initiative from the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), a Federal Government agency tasked with creating indigenous human capacity and petroleum technology to meet the demands of the oil and gas industry. Scholarships to study in the UK, Germany, France, and Malaysia starting in the 2024/2025 academic year will be given to the selected individuals.

Selection Procedure, Standards, and Conditions

Only applicants who exhibit exceptional performance across the board are chosen for PTDF scholarships, which are extremely competitive. The following criteria will be used by a selection committee to evaluate applications:

  • Academic merit demonstrated by the calibre of degrees obtained, complete academic transcripts, additional professional certifications obtained, and pertinent publications that candidates should cite
  • Participation in professional associations
  • The study’s or research plan’s viability (only for PhD applicants).

Conditions

  • MSc
  • A Second Class Lower (2.2) with appropriate industry experience, or a minimum of a Second Class Upper (2.1) qualification in their first degree
  • Needed to have fulfilled the required National Youth Service (NYSC)
  • Computer literacy is required.
  • A statement of purpose, no more than 500 words, outlining the reason(s) behind the study’s proposal, its applicability to the oil and gas sector, and its anticipated influence on national development.
  • Five O-level credits, one of which is in English language.
  • Before applying for the scholarship, candidates must have a National Identity Number (NIN) and be validated (NIMC verification fees apply).
  • PhD
  • Needed to have fulfilled the required National Youth Service (NYSC)
  • Computer literacy is required.
  • An excellent second-degree certificate and a minimum of Second Class Lower (2.2) in their first degree;
  • Must submit a five-page research proposal that is pertinent to the oil and gas sector and includes the following information: title, introduction, research problem, aim, questions and objectives, scope, summarized literature, methodology, and, if needed expected results.
  • A letter from their vice-chancellor verifying that they are not receiving any other scholarships is required of all lecturers.

Essential Records

It is recommended that applicants scan and attach the following papers to their online application forms:

  • National Identity Number(NIN)
  • Certificate of First Degree or Statement of Results
  • NYSC certificate of discharge
  • Results from WAEC, GCE, SSCE, and NECO, in addition to the PINs on the application forms, allow PTDF to access the O-level results on the appropriate website).
  • A recent photo from a passport
  • Letter of Identification from the Local Government
  • Certificate of Master’s Degree (only for PhD applicants)
  • Proof of affiliation with professional associations

Applicants are recommended to prepare their transcripts for submission in advance of receiving a request for them since those who make it through the first round of screening will be asked to submit them.
